Hammerspace is software. It is software that combines:
- A standards-based Parallel File System,
- A single Global Namespace that spans sites, clouds, and storage, and
- Advanced Data Orchestration services that automate the flow of data between local and remote compute resources.
With Hammerspace, our customers can unify siloed file and object data, accelerate global data workflows, and ultimately turn their unstructured data into business value.
Hammerspace is deployed in some of the fastest HPC sites, largest AI environments, and most distributed global enterprises in the world. These organizations have built their environments using their preferred hardware and cloud infrastructure with our software-defined and cloud marketplace models.

And now Hammerspace can also be purchased as an appliance!
Today we introduced our first line of appliances that combine Hammerspace software with pre-certified server hardware from a leading vendor, fulfilled through Arrow electronics. You can read the press release here.
Purchase and Deploy Hammerspace as Software, On the Cloud, and Now as an Appliance

Simplify Purchasing and Deployment with Pre-Defined Appliances
In order to further simplify the sizing and purchasing process, and to provide sample configurations that span various performance requirements and capacity points, we have defined two types of appliances that combine specific metadata servers and data servers:
- Throughput-Optimized Appliances are based on a 1U, 10-drive (1U10) server form factor, and are designed to maximize throughput per rack unit
- Flash Capacity-Optimized Appliances are based on a 2U, 24-drive (2U24) server form factor, and are designed to maximize flash capacity per rack unit
For each of these types of appliances, a small, medium, and large configuration was defined, resulting in the six configurations shown below.

If you would like to learn more about these appliances, check out this Reference Architecture.
Build Your Own Cluster With Flexible Configuration Options that Provide Linear Performance Scalability to Thousands of Nodes
Chances are that you have performance and capacity requirements that don’t match up exactly to the configurations above. No problem – Hammerspace is based on a flexible, software-defined architecture that makes it easy to scale performance and capacity to address a broad range of unstructured data use cases.
