John Cagle is a co-founder and Vice President of Customer Engineering at Hammerspace, where he leads customer success and oversees the highly available, distributed Linux platform that powers Hammerspace’s global data orchestration technology. With more than 30 years of experience building enterprise-class storage systems, John focuses on delivering resilient, scalable platforms that meet the demands of modern, data-intensive workloads.
Prior to Hammerspace, John was Senior Director of Systems Design at Fusion-io, where he led development of the ION Data Accelerator—the world’s first all-flash, SAN-attached storage solution built on Linux and industry-standard servers. Earlier, as a Distinguished Technologist at Hewlett-Packard, he played a key role in the BladeSystem, ProLiant, and Virtual Connect product lines. He was also a founding member of Compaq’s Linux Development team, an open-source advocate for Linux and FreeBSD, and a contributor to the IEEE 802.3z Gigabit Ethernet standard.
John is a Jones Scholar and holds an MBA from Rice University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Houston. He is the inventor on eight patents spanning software and hardware technologies
