Hammerspace announces a new software release, version 4.6.1
Hammerspace is thrilled to announce the general availability of version 4.6.1 which adds an expended portfolio of services and features to help organizations accelerate hybrid multi-cloud and storageless data deployments. In this release, Hammerspace adds a number of enterprise features and enhancements, such as support for Ansible playbooks, Active Directory Single Sign-On, and x.509 certificates. There are various improvements in SMB performance plus added support for SMB Aliases in the Hammerspace GUI. WORM can easily be implemented through declarative policies in the Hammerspace GUI.
Technology Preview Features included in this release include Antivirus ICAP support and native cloud volume support. Enhancements have also been made to improve capacity planning analysis.
Hammerspace Anvil and DSX can now be deployed and configured using Ansible Playbooks. Deployment is supported on VMware ESX 6.5 and later.
Write Once Read Many (WORM) can be enabled with a declarative policy, also known as an Objective in Hammerspace nomenclature. WORM protection can be implemented on files, folders, and shares. In addition, an expiration date can be set through a Hammerspace Objective. A privileged delete command is also supported. Hammerspace also supports Write Once Read Never (WORN) along with virtually any derivation through Hammerspace Objectives.
Active Directory Single Sign-On
Active Directory login credentials can now be used to authenticate against the Hammerspace Management GUI.
x.509 Server Certificate
A customer-provided certificate can now be installed and be used as an option where appropriate for all external communication requiring secure traffic.
GUI Support for SMB Aliases
Users can now configure and modify SMB Aliases in the GUI.
A number of enhancements have been made to improve GUI responsiveness when rendering share and node listings in very large-scale deployments.
User and Group Lookup Performance
Several enhancements have been made to the identity mapping caches on Hammerspace Anvil and DSX. This will help avoid unnecessary Name Service lookups, resulting in improved SMB login performance.
Technology Preview Features
This category consists of product features made available for testing purposes only. Technology preview features are not supported for production use. In general, a preview feature will be made available with full product support in the following release.
Antivirus is now supported as a technology preview feature. Antivirus support is implemented through standard ICAP (Internet Content Adaptation Protocol). ICAP is a protocol defined in RFC 3507.
Capacity Planning Analysis
Hammerspace provides customers with tools that help them plan their storage needs by allowing them to simulate data uploads to cloud without actually moving any data, while taking into account storage efficiency features like data compression and dedupe.
Native Cloud Volume Support
With support for native volumes, customer have the ability to access cloud data using any third-party tools and applications.
